High Temperature Seals

Metal woven or braided seals are used in a variety of heavy industrial applications with a range of core materials, most of them use some variety of elastomer, but others with a tight dry fiber core. Textum focusses on reusable seal technologies that can withstand cryogenic to ultra-high temperatures. We can tailor the seal material design, cross-section geometry, and size, which gives full control to the designer. Durability to help your vehicle survive in the harshest environments is what sets us apart, but we are still flexible to your requirements.

Commercial Space

The flurry of activity to establish a low-earth-orbit economy, a permanent presence on the moon, and the establishment of a human colony on Mars has revitalized the space industry and the private sector is leading the charge with great success. There are a lot of competing designs and ideas being explored and it’s an exciting time for everyone involved. Textum is a small piece of that puzzle in the grand scheme of things, but has a lot to offer in custom textile manufacturing for both thermal protection and communications technologies. We are making materials that are used in high temperature radomes, debris backblast protection, and direct shielding from a variety of heat sources.

Technical Detail:

Ceramic fabrics for heat resistance and insulation

3D woven fabrics made from stainless steel or Ni super alloys

Multi-material fabric systems

Quartz fabric radome billets (dry billets for customer densification)

Benefits:

Aerospace and Defense

Description:

Textile weaving for commercial applications requires cost/schedule/performance consideration with cost often being the main driver. That is important, but sometimes security constraints matter as much or more and extra measures are required that might contradict cost arguments. We don’t view it as a conflict. We view them as mutual requirements. Our value to the defense sector requires both the ability to deliver and to protect our information and products so they remain American advantages. This mindset is critical to establish through our supply chain and is emphasized with our partner organizations.

Security

We are a non-traditional defense contractor because most of our work is for commercial entities. However, our business framework aligns with the established defense industrial base for both physical and cyber security so that the practices required to serve that market are normal and assumed rather than an imposition. We are CMMC compliant, regularly handle ITAR/CUI information, and understand government contracting so we can accept further contractual requirements as needed.

Specialty Industrial

Description:

Over the last 10 years, Textum has intentionally increased focus to serve Aerospace and Defense and Commercial Space markets. This was a decision made based on customer demand and interest, but the foundation of the company was in specialty industrial products and this is still an active and healthy sector for us. These products are usually less demanding in terms of service requirements, but the challenge to produce them is comparable and our value lies in customization and made-to-order production. Custom scrim fabrics, infrastructure repair products, and high-durability, impact-resistant fabrics are just a few examples. We can weave standard broadgood materials, but our specialty is to take on harder challenges that most weavers ignore as a distraction. We gravitate to harsh environments, difficult to weave fibers, and low-volume, high-value applications..
